BYRNES IS BACK
The last time Eric Byrnes was in manager Art Howe's office, he had to swallow a bitter pill -- being demoted to Triple-A at the end of spring training when he thought he was nearly a lock to make the A's roster.
Wednesday's visit with Howe was a happier one for Byrnes, who was promoted to take Justice's spot on the roster and to serve as the A's reserve outfielder and pinch-runner.
"Obviously, last time I was real disappointed," Byrnes said. "But I realized I can't do anything about things like that. In a lot of ways, I think it was a blessing in disguise. I'm a baseball player. I need to play."
